In the story "Dear Mr. Blueberry", Emily had a blue whale living in her pool. Mr. Blueberry taught her many things about this blue whale. He taught her about its habitat, diet, and other important facts. Today, you will learn about other whales that live in the ocean.

What are whales?

Whales are large mammals. They breathe air through their blowhole into lungs. Whales move easily through the water. They are the only mammals, other than manatees, that live their entire lives in the water, and the only mammals that have adapted to life in the open oceans.
